Information for Clubs
Conducting an ATA-registered shoot in Tennessee starts with TSTA approval. The guidance below summarizes the process — always defer to the current ATA Rule Book for the official, complete requirements.
ATA Forms & Resources
Official ATA forms, applications, and club tools (opens shootata.com):
- ATA Club Resources — main hub for gun clubs.
- Supplies, Forms & Resources — shoot report forms, financial report, and more.
- Gun Club Affidavit
- Gun Club Questionnaire / Update Form (PDF)
- ATA Bylaws, Rule Book & Forms
- Gun Club Login — submit shoot dates and reports.
Applying to Conduct a Shoot
All ATA shoot dates must be requested from the TSTA via a Registered Shoot Application. Complete the application and mail or email it to the TSTA secretary for approval. Approved dates are forwarded to the ATA, which then sends the shoot paperwork. Any club dues or obligations to the state should accompany the application. The state will not unreasonably withhold approval, but dates must not conflict with another registered event in close proximity. If an approved shoot is not held, a Shoot Cancellation Report must be sent to both the ATA and TSTA within 8 days.
Follow-Up Duties After a Shoot
Following a registered shoot, shoot management is responsible for:
- Sending the ATA the completed report form with names, addresses, ATA card numbers, and accurate scores for all events — with a copy to TSTA.
- Submitting earned-yardage reports.
- Providing a trophy list and shoot-off results for events that qualify for All-American points.
- Reporting names and addresses of anyone paying ATA dues at the shoot.
- Remitting ATA daily fees ($3 per shooter per day) and any league registration fees, with the ATA Financial Report Form.
- Sending one copy of the official shoot program or league rules.
- Sending TSTA the state fees collected ($2 per shooter per day) with a copy of the ATA Financial Report and shooter scores.
- Sending the Trap & Field report form to Trap & Field Magazine.
All of the above must be completed within 8 calendar days of the last day of the shoot to avoid late-report fines (the ATA assesses escalating penalties for repeat offenses).
